Stockport Grammar School
Stockport Grammar School was founded in the north east of England.
1488
Jasper Tudor, Cardiff Castle
Jasper Tudor, Duke of Bedford, took possession of Cardiff Castle.
1501
Greenwich Palace
A complex of recreational buildings was added to Greenwich Palace. It included facilities for chess, tables (backgammon and draughts), dice, cards, bils (billiards), bowls, archery and tennis as well as spectators galleries.
May 1502
Catherine of Aragon in Durham House
Catherine of Aragon and her Spanish courtiers were given accommodation in Durham House.
24th January 1503
Chapel at Westminster Abbey
Construction began on Henry VII’s Chapel at Westminster Abbey.

Hever Castle
The Boleyn family moved to Hever Castle which Thomas Boleyn had inherited from his father.

Exploration
Sebastian Cabot, son of John Cabot, returned from a voyage to the New Found Land and brought back a quantity of fish.

North-West Passage
John Cabot’s son, Sebastian, was given financial backing by the Bristol Merchants for an expedition to try and find a north-west passage that would make an easy route around the New Found Land to the shores of Cathay (China). The expedition was abandoned after they encountered ice and the crew refused to continue the journey.
